The Motivating Force That Drives You

Today I want to talk about Motivation. I have a few questions first. What motivates you to do what you do? Is your motivation strong enough to keep you going? What drives you to persist? What fuels your desires

?

Motivation is defined as a stimulus, influence, incentive or drive. Motivation is that thing that keeps you going, and going, and going, just like the Energizer Bunny. Motivation is the thing that drives you.

Proverbs 16:26 says The person who labors, labors for himself, for his hungry mouth drives him on.

When a man is hungry he will do anything to satisfy that hunger. Those hunger pangs are the motivating factor that drives him to find food. A hungry man knows that if he doesn’t eat, eventually he will die. Now is that motivation or what?

In business you must have a motivating factor or factors that drive you to be successful. If not, you will struggle continuously. Not only should you have these things that drive you, you must use them daily as a reminder of what needs to be done to be successful.

When finding your motivating factors there are two approaches you can take. You can take the negative approach or the positive approach. An example of the negative approach is looking at all of the bad things that can happen to you if you don’t persist and make things happen. Some negative things are:

  • Working for someone else
  • Always lacking money
  • Dealing with rush hour traffic
  • Not having freedom to manage your own time

These are the types of things that are so bad that you don’t want to experience them. The thought of going through these things makes you work hard to accomplish your goals.

The positive approach would be to look at the benefits of doing what needs to be done to get rewarded. Some positive things are:

  • Financial freedom
  • Total control of your schedule (freedom)
  • Working for yourself
  • More time with the family

When you take the positive approach, it’s all about accomplishing your goals to obtain pleasure. You will do what you need to do for gratification.

Regardless of what approach you use to motivate yourself, you MUST be persistent in going for the gold. You MUST work hard everyday to achieve your goals. You MUST not take no for an answer. You MUST keep your eyes focused on the end result and not your present circumstance.

CONSISTENCY is the key.

For me, I have a number of motivating factors I use to motivate me but you must find your own.

So find out what truly motivates you (negative or positive) and use it! Find out what feeds your fuel and keep it moving forward.

Do You Have a Winner’s Attitude for Business?

This is a question that you need to ask yourself on a regular basis. You need to make sure that as you go on in your personal life and your business life, you try to achieve your goals with the right attitude. You need to have a winner’s attitude.

Now what is a winner’s attitude? A winner’s attitude is one that says I’m going to be persistent and have a non-stop mentality. It says I’m going to keep on regardless of the obstacles. It says nothing is going to stop me.

A winner’s attitude is one of creativity. It is one that says I will find a way to complete a task and I will use my talents, skills and resources to make things happen.

A winner’s attitude is one that takes action. It doesn’t wait forever to do something. I moves quickly and makes things happen. It is all about action and not reaction. It makes things happen.

A winner’s attitude is also about passion. It’s about finding what you like to do and doing it with all your heart. It’s about loving what you do regardless of how much work is involved because when you truly love what you do, you don’t look at it as work.

When you think about yourself, do you consider yourself a winner? If not, that’s okay because I haven’t always thought of myself as one. I use to doubt myself and my abilities. I didn’t think I was worthy of greatness but then I got over it. I started to realize that I’m more than a conqueror and that I can do all things. I got this in my spirit and never looked back.

I had to get rid of that stinkin’ thinkin’ and reprogram my thoughts. I started reading more information about entrepreneurs and business. I started listening to more CD’s about success. I stopped getting into conversations with people who weren’t trying to go anywhere.

I stayed away from people who were always complaining instead of changing their situations.

I got rid of the crap in my life.

Now I’m looking for successful business people to network with. I’m looking for winners to hang out with because that’s who I am and I have a winner’s attitude. I am a winner in all aspects of my life; personally and in business.

Have I achieved all that I want to? No, but I’m on my way. I know that if I continue on the path that I’m going, I will accomplish all of my goals and so much more and so can you if you develop the winner’s attitude.

You Got to Stick With It

So you want to be a business owner? Do you really know what you’re getting yourself into? I really hope you do because I believe that there are too many people sitting on their skills and talents and aren’t using them to build businesses. We should be providing for ourselves and our families. We must not be scared and we must step out there and take control of our lives.

Don’t Give Up

What ever you decide to do Mr. or Mrs. Business owner, be dedicated to your efforts. Don’t let anything or anybody discourage you from doing well in business. You are going to face a lot of obstacles but doesn’t everyone? There is no business owner out there who will tell you that the whole process was easy and they didn’t have any obstacles or doubts about what they were doing. There are always a ton of stumbling blocks. You must be able to get through them.

Market Your Product

No matter how great your product is you must have a successful marketing plan. The “If you build it, they will come” philosophy doesn’t count in business. You must get the word out effectively in order to move products and services so make sure you have an effective marketing plan that caters to your niche. Don’t expect people to just drop out of the sky with money in hand ready to by once you launch your endeavor.

Use the Nay Sayers as Motivators

Unfortunately the main people who try to discourage us when we want to start a business are the ones who are the closest to us; our family. If you truly have a passion for what you want to do, don’t let the ANYONE (even family) talk you out of it. Use their negativity as your motivator and make it work. You control your own destiny not anyone else so don’t let their comments or jokes or criticism keep you down.

Build Your Brand

There may be a period of time when you’re not making any money. If that is the case, don’t worry because you should be in the process of building your brand. When you do this eventually you will get recognize as someone with a worthwhile product or services and in a matter of time, the sales will come. Keep plugging away at making you company, product and yourself a name in the industry and before you know it, everyone will know who you are.

Show Your Passion

To really be motivated about what you do, it is important to remember why you are doing what you’re doing. Remember the passion you felt when you thought up the concept of your business. Remember the passion you had once you started to put the plan on paper. That passion is what is fueling you deep down on the inside. It is that fire that’s burning when times are tough. Be passionate and let others know how you feel.

So regardless of what you want to do in your business life, Stick With It, work the plan and success will eventually come.
