The Motivating Force That Drives You
Today I want to talk about Motivation. I have a few questions first. What motivates you to do what you do? Is your motivation strong enough to keep you going? What drives you to persist? What fuels your desires
?
Motivation is defined as a stimulus, influence, incentive or drive. Motivation is that thing that keeps you going, and going, and going, just like the Energizer Bunny. Motivation is the thing that drives you.
Proverbs 16:26 says The person who labors, labors for himself, for his hungry mouth drives him on.
When a man is hungry he will do anything to satisfy that hunger. Those hunger pangs are the motivating factor that drives him to find food. A hungry man knows that if he doesn’t eat, eventually he will die. Now is that motivation or what?
In business you must have a motivating factor or factors that drive you to be successful. If not, you will struggle continuously. Not only should you have these things that drive you, you must use them daily as a reminder of what needs to be done to be successful.
When finding your motivating factors there are two approaches you can take. You can take the negative approach or the positive approach. An example of the negative approach is looking at all of the bad things that can happen to you if you don’t persist and make things happen. Some negative things are:
- Working for someone else
- Always lacking money
- Dealing with rush hour traffic
- Not having freedom to manage your own time
These are the types of things that are so bad that you don’t want to experience them. The thought of going through these things makes you work hard to accomplish your goals.
The positive approach would be to look at the benefits of doing what needs to be done to get rewarded. Some positive things are:
- Financial freedom
- Total control of your schedule (freedom)
- Working for yourself
- More time with the family
When you take the positive approach, it’s all about accomplishing your goals to obtain pleasure. You will do what you need to do for gratification.
Regardless of what approach you use to motivate yourself, you MUST be persistent in going for the gold. You MUST work hard everyday to achieve your goals. You MUST not take no for an answer. You MUST keep your eyes focused on the end result and not your present circumstance.
CONSISTENCY is the key.
For me, I have a number of motivating factors I use to motivate me but you must find your own.
So find out what truly motivates you (negative or positive) and use it! Find out what feeds your fuel and keep it moving forward.
To YOUR Success,
Sometimes You Have to Improvise
Today I started the day off not quite the way I wanted to. I left the house and didn’t have my flash drive. Now if you’re like me, you have everything on your flash drive and if you don’t have it, you feel like your unequipped, lost, naked, bare, without your tools. You feel weak.
Now if I lose my flash drive I’m not too worried because I back up my inf ormation
but to leave the house without it means that today I’ll have to improvise.
To improvise means to make, invent, or arrange offhand; to make or fabricate out of what is conveniently on hand.
In essence it means to take the tools that you already have, and the knowledge that you have already obtained, and make it work for you. It means that you must be creative in order to complete a task. In order to accomplish a goal, you have to create something out of the limited resources you have.
Do you have a back up plan if something goes wrong? Are you totally dependant on one source of information, one source of training, one source of marketing?
What happens when your one source is dried up? What will you do? Can you improvise or will you suffer? I can work without my flash drive for a day because there is always something I need to do that doesn’t require me to have the information or documents that are on my flash drive. There is always a way out of no way. I CAN improvise.
Are you in that situation with your job where it is your one source of income? What if you were the BEST employee the company had but due to cutbacks they decided to get rid of some people and you was one of them because you had a high salary. Would this devastate you and your finances or would you be able to improvise and pull money from another source? Most people would be in trouble because they depend on their jobs as their sole source of income.
Even if you’re a network marketer, is your primary business your one source of income? Just imagine if that company folded, went out of business, shut down. Do you have money coming in from somewhere else? Can you improvise and make something happen based on the resources you have?
Regardless of what you do in life, first and foremost you should have multiple streams of income. You should be utilizing your God-given talents and skills to bring money into your household. Second, you should be ready to make adjustments, improvise, if something goes wrong and the money starts to dry up from one source. You should always be ready to make changes and work with what you have.
You were born with more than enough talents to make great things happen. It’s up to you to go out and do it.
To YOUR Success,
Ain’t No Stopping Me Now
There’s a line in the movie “I’m Gonna Get You Sucka” where one character tells his young protégé that every hero has a theme song. Well I think every entrepreneur should have a theme song also and I found mine.
I was listening to Pandora yesterday and this song came on that blew me away. I remember it when it came out in 1979 and I loved it for years but for some reason, it really hit home. The song is “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” by MacFadden and Whitehead. Although this song came out 31 years ago, it is truly timeless.
Now R&B may not be your genre but check out the YouTube video and read the lyrics that I have posted and tell me this isn’t an awesome song.
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’re on the move!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’ve got the groove!
There’s been so many things thats held us down.
But now it looks like things are finally comin’ around.
I know we’ve got, a long long way to go,
and where we’ll end up, I don’t know.
But we won’t let nothin’ hold us back,
we’re putting our selves together,
we’re polishing up our act!
If you felt we’ve been held down before,
I know you’ll refuse to be held down anymore!
Don’t you let nothing, nothing,
Stand in your way!
I want ya’ll to listen, listen,
to every word I say, every word I say!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’re on the move!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’ve got the groove!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’re on the move!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’ve got the groove!
I know you know someone that has a negative vow,
and if you’re trying to make it they only push you aside.
They really don’t have, no where to go.
Ask them where they’re going, they don’t know.
But we won’t let nothin’ hold us back,
we’re gonna put our selves together,
we’re gonna polish up our act!
And if you’ve ever been held down before,
I know you’ll refuse to be held down anymore!
Ain’t No Stopping Me Now because I’m on my way to more success, more happiness, more healthy relationships, more peace of mind, more money and more fitness.
Yes this is my new theme song but you can share it with me if you want.
Leave me a comment and tell me if you have a theme song or if you had to pick one, what would it be.
I can’t wait to see what songs you come up with. Also, share this with your twitter and Facebook friends and let’s see how many people have a cool theme song.

Time Vampires
As a kid, and even now, I have always liked vampire movies. Some of the movies I’ve seen were The Lost Boys, Blacula, Van Helsing, Blade, Fright Night, From Dusk Til Dawn, and Once Bitten. As you can see by my list I didn’t say that they were “classic” or “good” vampire movies.
Everyone knows that vampires are blood suckers and they take the life out of you and transform you into what they are; the living dead. Yes vampires appear to be alive but they are dead.
Now in our everyday lives there may not be real vampires lurking around waiting to suck our blood but there are definitely Time Vampires and they are sucking valuable time from us and slowly killing us.
Now how we identify these Time Vampires is really not that difficult. They’re in our lives everyday and if we take an inventory on our time usage, we probably would be shocked at how much time these Time Vampires are stealing from us.
Let’s go through this list and see if any of these sound familiar.
1. The Television: This has got to be #1. How many mind numbing, idiotic television shows do we watch EVERYDAY? Just think about your day and the number of hours you spend in front of the boob tube sucking in mindless information. If you watch two 1-hour shows that’s quality time you could be using to build your business.
2. Family/Friends: Yes your family and friends can be some of the worse Time Vampires out there. Although they mean well and they’re fun to be with, occasionally you have to cut them back and go handle your business. Family and friends can also engage you in too many phone conversations or gossip so beware of your time on the phone.
3. Sleeping/Napping: Stop being lazy and get up and do some work! If you really want to have a successful home-based business, you can’t come home and nap everyday after work. You have to be motivated to get what you want.
4. Bad Books/Gossip Magazines: Now I’m all for doing a lot of reading to improve self but to read a romance novel or a celebrity magazine is totally a waste of time. If you are so fascinated by that Hollywood lifestyle then go out and create your own.
Don’t live in someone else’s dream life; live your own.
5. Extracurricular Activities: Are you the MVP in your adult basketball league? If so, maybe you need to put some of that superstar time and effort into creating a profitable business. I’m all for extracurricular activities because we all need balance but you have to make some sacrifices and make sure that those activities aren’t taking up too much business-building time.
6. Social Networking Sites: Yes our favorite social networking sites can be vicious Time Vampires and I’ve been guilty of this. I start out by saying I’m going to check on one thing or send out one message on Facebook and hours later, I’m still there doing fun stuff. Set aside some time after your work has been completed before you get on you favorite social networking sites so it won’t interfere with making money.
The things I have listed really aren’t bad if properly managed. And as I mentioned earlier, you must have balance. Yes you have to set aside time for family and friends, you must get involved in extracurricular activities and getting some rest is necessary at times. The key is to make sure those things are not sucking the life out of your business and making you think that your business is alive when in reality it’s dead.
Get control of your time and eliminate any and all Time Vampires that come your way.
I hope you got some great value out of this post! Give me your feedback by leaving a comment down below. Also, share this knowledge with all of your followers and friends. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
To YOUR Success,
Rodney
P.S. What are some of the Time Vampires that you struggle with but now going to eliminate?
Do You Have a Winner’s Attitude for Business?
This is a question that you need to ask yourself on a regular basis. You need to make sure that as you go on in your personal life and your business life, you try to achieve your goals with the right attitude. You need to have a winner’s attitude.
Now what is a winner’s attitude? A winner’s attitude is one that says I’m going to be persistent and have a non-stop mentality. It says I’m going to keep on regardless of the obstacles. It says nothing is going to stop me.
A winner’s attitude is one of creativity. It is one that says I will find a way to complete a task and I will use my talents, skills and resources to make things happen.
A winner’s attitude is one that takes action. It doesn’t wait forever to do something. I moves quickly and makes things happen. It is all about action and not reaction. It makes things happen.
A winner’s attitude is also about passion. It’s about finding what you like to do and doing it with all your heart. It’s about loving what you do regardless of how much work is involved because when you truly love what you do, you don’t look at it as work.
When you think about yourself, do you consider yourself a winner? If not, that’s okay because I haven’t always thought of myself as one. I use to doubt myself and my abilities. I didn’t think I was worthy of greatness but then I got over it. I started to realize that I’m more than a conqueror and that I can do all things. I got this in my spirit and never looked back.
I had to get rid of that stinkin’ thinkin’ and reprogram my thoughts. I started reading more information about entrepreneurs and business. I started listening to more CD’s about success. I stopped getting into conversations with people who weren’t trying to go anywhere.
I stayed away from people who were always complaining instead of changing their situations.
I got rid of the crap in my life.
Now I’m looking for successful business people to network with. I’m looking for winners to hang out with because that’s who I am and I have a winner’s attitude. I am a winner in all aspects of my life; personally and in business.
Have I achieved all that I want to? No, but I’m on my way. I know that if I continue on the path that I’m going, I will accomplish all of my goals and so much more and so can you if you develop the winner’s attitude.
To YOUR Success,
Rodney
