Ain’t No Stopping Me Now

There’s a line in the movie “I’m Gonna Get You Sucka” where one character tells his young protégé that every hero has a theme song. Well I think every entrepreneur should have a theme song also and I found mine.

I was listening to Pandora yesterday and this song came on that blew me away. I remember it when it came out in 1979 and I loved it for years but for some reason, it really hit home. The song is “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” by MacFadden and Whitehead. Although this song came out 31 years ago, it is truly timeless.

Now R&B may not be your genre but check out the YouTube video and read the lyrics that I have posted and tell me this isn’t an awesome song.

Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’re on the move!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’ve got the groove!

There’s been so many things thats held us down.
But now it looks like things are finally comin’ around.
I know we’ve got, a long long way to go,
and where we’ll end up, I don’t know.
But we won’t let nothin’ hold us back,
we’re putting our selves together,
we’re polishing up our act!
If you felt we’ve been held down before,
I know you’ll refuse to be held down anymore!

Don’t you let nothing, nothing,
Stand in your way!
I want ya’ll to listen, listen,
to every word I say, every word I say!

Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’re on the move!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’ve got the groove!

Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’re on the move!
Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
We’ve got the groove!

I know you know someone that has a negative vow,
and if you’re trying to make it they only push you aside.
They really don’t have, no where to go.
Ask them where they’re going, they don’t know.
But we won’t let nothin’ hold us back,
we’re gonna put our selves together,
we’re gonna polish up our act!
And if you’ve ever been held down before,
I know you’ll refuse to be held down anymore!

    Rodney,

My theme song is, “Can’t Give Up Now,” by Mary, Mary. It’s a soulful, inspirational and encouraging gospel song about the goodness and the faithfulness of God, who believes in us and is faithful to us even when we don’t acknowledge Him.

Here’s a link to a video with this song playing in the background:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmQBshQ11uo

*Love* your blog. Keep uplifting and inspiring. ;-)

  • Hey Evelyn,

I’m very familiar with Mary Mary. One of my favorite gospel groups (although I don’t have their latest CD). :-) I’ll definitely check out the Youtube link and add it to my favorites.

  • Hi Rodney!

Thanks for inviting me back to your Blog…it’s always nice seeing you. :)

Excellent pick I must say. The tunes from that era were very high energy & ‘make you feel good wanna listen to more’ type songs.

As for mine, I’m going to let that one ‘stew’ for just a little bit…I’ll let you know though.

Keep up your fantastic work…your tribal friend Steven Suchar

  • Hey Steven,

I agree, the tunes from that era were great and I just happen to hear this on pandora.com and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I probably would have picked something else if I had to research it but this one grabbed me instead.

  • Hey Rodney…R&B IS my genre and this is a great song! It took me back to the days work as a radio station DJ. I received soo many request for this song!

    Thanks for the nice flashback!

    Talk later

    -James

  • I would have LOVED to have been a radio DJ except I don’t think I could be quick on my feet to keep people entertained. :-)
